But let's start from the top of the trip. We arrived in Orlando Wednesday night and drove to Daytona Beach. We went to check into our hotel and they said they didn't have our reservation.. And that they had our dates mixed up. It was such a fiasco. We scrambled and luckily found another hotel just a few miles away. Thursday the girls competed in the prelims for open dance. They did amazing! They had the high score if the day. The rest of our day was spent hanging at the beach! The beaches in Daytona are amazing. They are huge and flat, and the sand is like powder sugar! The coolest part is that you can drive your cars right down onto the beach. It's awesome!
Friday was the finals for open dance. It was outside on a stage right on the beach! It was so awesome. They killed it and scored the highest score of a 9.93!! National Champs! That afternoon the girls competed in the hip hop prelims. They were amazing, walking away with the high score for that round.
It was also the national college cheer nationals... Court and I went and watched some of the competition on Saturday, and it was insane!! They were amazing. Our minds were blown! But since it was also cheer nationals, there were cheerleaders stunting EVERYWHERE. This was called "stunt fest." Crazy and SO entertaining.
Saturday morning the girls competed in the finals for Hip Hop. They did a great routine, but with a few tiny mistakes. Placing them in 2nd place in the finals. They were bummed, but very gracious! Now they will come back next year wanting that first place spot back!! It was amazing to watch the Cougarettes compete and perform. They are so insanely talented, and such beautiful nice girls.
Sunday morning we did a work out, and spent a few hours by the pool before heading to lunch and to the airport. It was such a great trip!
Even though it started out a bit rough, thanks to my mom and dad, it all ended smooth and perfect. It was wonderful to get to play with sweet Priya, hang out with Court and my parents, and to watch Libby perform. It was definitely a trip I will never forget!
