For two days we stayed in the Cinque
Terre. Cinque Terre the rugged portion of coast on the Italian Rivera. It is a stretch of coast that has 5 different cities along the way. The only way to access the cities are by train! We stayed in Monterosso al Mare, the Northen most town out of the five. Our hotel was called Hotel Villa Adriana. It was clean, quaint, and had the most gorgeous views. My parents had a balcony and we would sit out there every night! They also provide a free breakfast which is delicious. Our first day in Cinque a Terre we got settled in our hotel, and then we went to the beach! The views are breathtaking.
After the beach we wandered into what they refer to as the "old town." It was all perfectly charming in every way. Two of the best things ever are famous here in Cinque Terre: pesto sauce, and focaccia bread. The combo of the two is to die for! We are all addicted. We ended the night with gelato, of course.
The next day we woke up, had breakfast, and then headed out on our day of hiking. The first hike goes from Monterosso to Vernazza. It is long, steep, but worth every step! The trail goes up into the tops of the cliffs and weaves you through the vineyards and lemon groves. The views are insane.
We then took the short train ride to the other cities. There are hikes between the other cities but they are closed because of a flood that happened a few years back. All of the cities are unique and amazing! We had to hike up 365 stairs to get up to Corniglla, and we were so pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful, colorful, quiet cliff side village.

After our explorations, we headed back to Monterosso for some time on the beach. After a late dinner and some gelato we were ready to call it a night!
The next morning the girls wandered around old town, bought matching bracelets, and took care of the babies.. While the boys took one last swim in the gorgeous ocean!
What a perfect two days in the Cinque Terre. To say that this place is dreamy wouldn't even do it justice. We are obsessed! We would love to return someday.
Side note/story... While we were waiting to board a train inbetween towns, a local man on the other side of the track was motioning to us to beware that there was pick pocketers around us. He pointed them out, so that we knew exactly who they were. It was a group of girls, I'm not sure how old they were.. Somewhere between 19-30. They all had lots of bags, and just tried to act like normal passengers. We even saw them switching out their clothes to try to make themselves unrecognizable. They literally road all day back and forth between the towns looking for innocent targets. We would warn everyone we possibly could! They are so sneaky and creepy. We think they knew that we had caught on to them because you could tell that they wanted us to get off the train. How creepy is that?! I wish we could have reported them to the police or something.
Other than that.. Cinque Terre was unbelievable. I think it might be one of my favorite places in the world!!
Next stop: LAKE COMO.
