We made it to Rome safe and sound! We were pretty tired, although we did sleep well on the plane. When we arrived we had to take the Lenardo Train from the airport to Cavour station.
Once we got there, we headed to our apartments and got cleaned up. Then our first stop was to the Colesseum! It is amazing. I had forgotten how huge it is! It is massive. We used the Rick Steve's audio guide to give us a tour. It was really informative. I can't imagine living back then!
From there we headed to Plaza Novana for lunch. It's a gorgeous square, a very picturesque place for lunch.
Then we headed to watch the World Cup in the Emmanuel Vittorio to watch it with all of the locals. Sadly they lost, but it was still a sight to be seen!
From there we headed to the stairs at Campidoglio to see a pretty sunset and to see a Michalangelo statue. Gorgeous!
One of my favorite things about Rome is how magical and gorgeous each little alley and street are. I'm obsessed!
We saw a stairway and decided we should climb up it and see where it lead to... And of course it lead us up to the top of a building for a gorgeous view of Rome. It was on the backside of Borghese Park!
What a magical and perfect day in Rome! We are beyond grateful that we got to spend a day there. What a miracle. It all worked out and we were thrilled!!
Next stop-- CINQUE TERRE!
